They have the same armor as Knight Legs and Crown Legs, but are considerably lighter. Since the 8.4 Update, these are a valuable piece of armor for mid-level mages, until they can afford to purchase Lightning Legs, Terra Legs, Magma Legs, or Glacier Kilt. Most mid-high players use them because of their low weight and high armor.
